The Huawei P70 series was rumored to launch later this month. But, the company has different plans for this series. The company’s official handle confirms that the series has been renamed to Huawei “Pura.” In a published video, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei, announced that the Huawei P series has been officially rebranded to “Huawei Pura.” The 2-minute-long video points out various aspects of the company’s future plans with the new “Pura” series and also illuminates the glory of the discontinued “P” series.
Overall, we will see the upcoming P series phones under a new name, but the legacy of the “P” series will be memorable with a long journey of 12 years. As we know, the first “P” smartphone was launched in 2012. This series has set new benchmarks, especially in the camera department.
In the meantime, the official account published a promotional video revealing the triangular-shaped camera at the back. It showcases a nearly identical design to what we have seen in leaked images. Although the promotional video does not directly display information about the new phone, it can be seen from the constant appearance of the triangle symbol. Besides, as many as 4 variants would be under the new “Pura” series, claimed by the reputed tipster. The naming scheme is also similar, but the “Art” variant will likely be renamed the “Ultra” variant. So, there would be Huawei Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+, and Pura 70 Ultra.
In terms of specifications, the standard Pura 70 is rumored to arrive with a 6.58-inch LTPO OLED display. The remaining three models Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+, and Pura 70 Ultra will have larger 6.76-inch LTPO OLED panels. In terms of camera, both the Pura 70 and Pura 70 Pro will share OmniVision’s 50MP OV50H main sensor, while the Pura 70 Pro and Pura 70 Ultra may have an upgraded Sony IMX989 sensor. All four models will have 13-megapixel selfie lenses on the front. All four new Pura 70 series phones are expected to run the yet-to-be-released company’s in-house Kirin 9010 chip.
