Earlier today, Huawei released the first teaser of the upcoming Huawei Nova Flip, which should be an affordable option for flip phone lovers. It is understood that this is the first small folding device in Huawei’s Nova series. Compared with the Pocket series, it is positioned for a younger generation and the price is expected to be greatly reduced. It is reported that it will hit the 5,000 yuan price range.
From the official poster, we can see the three highlights of the phone, namely, 6.88mm thin and reliable body, Hongmeng AI fun play, and rear 50-megapixel hovering selfie. The hinge supports hovering, so you can put it on the desktop and take selfies with the 50-megapixel rear camera and preview them on the external screen, which saves the selfie stand and the rear image quality will be better.
For reference, the thickness of Huawei Pocket 2 in the unfolded state is 7.25mm, which feels very good to hold. The Nova Flip will further thin the body, which will also greatly reduce the thickness when closed, so it can be easily stuffed into a pocket.
Speaking of its design, the Huawei Nova Flip comes with a vertically-aligned dual rear camera setup. The camera island is barely smaller than its outer screen. Hence, it will lack the advantage of a larger external display found in flagship flip phones. Overall, its design gives a cheaper feel. So, we expect this phone to fall in the mid-range segment. Apart from that, the front side is surrounded by a hole-punch single camera for selfies.
Besides, the company shed light on its color variants and the launch date. According to the company’s official statement, the phone will be launched on August 5 at 19:00 CST in China. Furthermore, the Nova Flip comes in four colors: New Green, Sakura Pink, Zero White, and Starry Black. Overall, the company is all set to unveil its Huawei Nova Flip phone.
