MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G – Antutu-Geekbench Scores

There has always been tough competition between MediaTek and Qualcomm when it comes to the mid-range segment. We have seen plenty of smartphones using MediaTek chipsets at an affordable price range. The company is known for providing good specifications at reasonable rates. The Latest Realme 8 series uses MediaTek Helio G95 for the base model and Snapdragon 720G for the “Pro” variant.

In this article, we will compare the MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G side by side. Both the chipsets are very popular in the 10-15k price range in India. We have already seen many smartphones using Helio G95 under 10 thousand, which is very much affordable. On the other hand, Snapdragon 720G dominates the upper mid-range with a bunch of smartphones. Let’s start the in-depth comparison between MediaTek Helio G95 vs Snapdragon 720G!

1
CPU & GPU

The MediaTek Helio G95 arrives with a dual-cluster octa-core CPU. It has two powerful Cortex-A76 cores clocked @2.05GHz. There are six less powerful Cortex-A55 cores @2.0GHz for casual tasks. The chipset is manufactured on a 12nm processing node. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 720G also comes with a dual-clustered octa-core CPU with two powerful Cortex-A76 cores @2.3GHz.

The other six Cortex-A55 cores stand @1.8GHz. The 8nm processing node powers it. Smaller the chip size batter power officially. Hence, undoubtedly, the Snapdragon 720G can manage the power in a better way. The CPU offered by the Snapdragon 720G is way more powerful compared to Helio G95. It has boosted clock speed and comparatively more power officially. Overall, you should expect smooth multi-tasking with this chipset.

As far as GPU is concerned, Helio G95 offers Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU to handle graphics-intensive tasks. Further, the company adds MediaTek HyperEngine technology to improve the gaming experience. If we compare it with last year’s Helio G90T, it has 8% batter speed. The Snapdragon 720G comes with an Adreno 618 GPU. The GPU is pretty much optimized for gaming with HDR support. If we compare it with Mali GPU, we should expect better performance and stability.

2
Display & Camera

The MediaTek Helio G95 supports a 2520×1080 pixels Full HD+ display with HDR10+ support. The Snapdragon 720G can hold up to 3360×1440 pixels QHD+, which allows it to handle sharper panels. But we usually don’t see QHD+ panels in the mid-range segments. Even most of the flagship smartphones also arrive with FHD+ panels nowadays.

As far as the camera is concerned, Helio G95 offers a single 64MP camera or dual 24MP + 16MP cameras. Snapdragon 720G is enhanced up to 192MP single camera or dual 22MP + 22MP cameras.

If we compare cameras, image processing plays a better role compared to the counting megapixels game. Google Pixel phones are prime examples of great image processing with fewer megapixel cameras than its competition. Overall, the Snapdragon 720G has advanced to deliver better image processing, which will stabilize color accuracy and vividness.

3
Connectivity

If you were expecting 5G support, here both the chipsets will disappoint you. The two processors come with an integrated 4G LTE modem. Qualcomm X12 LTE used on Snapdragon 720G offers up to 600Mbps download and 150Mbps upload speeds. The Helio G95 also uses an LTE modem with 600Mpbps and 150Mbps. It shouldn’t be bothersome for the Indian continent as we are still getting much lower internet speed.

Apart from that, all the necessary connectivity options are available on both SoCs. But here is a catch for you. The Snapdragon 720G supports the Indian NaIC, a regional navigation system designed by ISRO. If you use the navigation on a daily basis, it is an Advantage to offer a better regional guide. It doesn’t mean Helio G95 is missing something.

The Global Positioning System, AKA GPS, also works flawlessly in most parts of India as well as other parts of the globe. We might see some better usage in the future. But in the current scenario, both the chipsets are capable of performing equally well in the navigation department.

As the specs show, the Snapdragon 720G comes with a boosted 2.3GHz primary core. It is an obvious reason to score more. It will be worth noting the benchmark scores can be considered only as indicators, while, the real-world usage can be different. Overall, both the chipsets are doing equally well in benchmarks, with Snapdragon 720G taking the lead in the CPU departments. However, the GPU segment is taken over by Helio G95.

Final Conclusion – Which one is better?

We want to add that both are doing well under the given price bracket by concluding this comparison. But the Snapdragon 720G offers a better CPU & GPU. The Snapdragon chipsets are always known for delivering stable performance. But MediaTek became a strong competitor over the years. It has been improved, giving tough competition to Snapdragon chipsets.

The MediaTek Helio G95 is built on a 12nm processing node, which is not that power efficient. But it is offering some decent specifications at a much lower price. If you have a tight budget, this is the perfect offering around the 10k price segment. The Snapdragon 720G beats the Helio G95 marginally but comes at a higher price. Both the chipsets are doing great in respective of the price range they are offering. What are your thoughts? Do let us know in the comment section!
