We have already learned that Huawei is planning for a triple-screen foldable phone later this year. Today, a picture of Richard Yu (Executive Director of Huawei) holding the tri-fold device on a plane has circulated online. So far, this is the first public appearance of Huawei’s highly anticipated tri-fold mobile phone. The picture was taken from a distance. Hence, it didn’t reveal much except for the front portion. The phone is said to have a centered single-hole design located on the leftmost screen.
Subsequently, a reliable tipster Digital Chat Station stated that the tri-fold smartphone is scheduled to arrive before the Huawei Mate 70 series, which is the company’s flagship lineup. It is reported that the Huawei Mate 70 series is likely to make its debut by the end of September month. The Weibo post further revealed the tri-fold phone to arrive with a Kirin 9 series chipset and a 10-inch screen is expected when unfolded.
Speaking of its design, the tipster claimed that the device consists of an inner folding & outer folding with a double hinge design. The thickness of the phone is pretty much under control. Being a tri-fold mobile phone with three screens inside and outside, the folding thickness cannot be compared with the current double-fold mobile phones. Besides, there is not much known about this phone.
It is worth noting that Richard Yu once revealed that Huawei’s tri-fold mobile phone is a product that everyone can think of but cannot make. Huawei has been planning it for 5 years and is finally going to launch it. Before that, we have seen multiple concepts featuring a triple-screen foldable phone. But, Huawei will be the first company to mass produce that kind of product. Hence, there is no competition in this segment in the current scenario.
